We are doing a test shoot so that we can see what the opening scene will look similar to when we film the opening scene for real.
The test shoot is also used so that we can find any problems that we might experience when we film. With these problems we can do things that will help resolve the problems
Roles
- all of our group with be actors in the test shoot but not the real shoot
- hunter 1 - me (Will)
- hunter 2 - Cole (replaced by other student)
- girl who is killed - Daisy
- main character (girl not killed) - Bea
- camera operator will be Daisy - using Daisy's phone
- editor will be Cole (was later replaced by Daisy)
- director - we are all the directors of the scene
- behind the scenes photo taker - Will
as all of the group are actors we all have to do the roles of the actors
Location
We might switch the weapon to be either a sharpened stick or a sock with rocks in it. These would be more likely to be easily obtained by the girl than a knife
- a gun - we will use an umbrella - we used an umbrella as a gun is a weapon so we can't use a real gun and an umbrella is a similar size and shape to a gun
The shoot
On the day of our shoot day Cole contracted Covid-19 so was not able to be there to help film as well as act
We had to replace Cole so we found a student who was free for an hour and used them for the part of the scene where Cole's character was supposed to be scene
what went well
what I think went well was that we were able to shoot all of the parts of the scene we intended to film although it wasn't long enough
I think the general storyline of the opening scene worked well even though we had never filmed it before
struggles
The struggle of losing Cole for the test shoot due to Covid-19 was quite big as he was going to be our editor as well as one of the actors. To combat that Daisy had to take on the role of the editor in Cole's absence
We also had to find a student that wasn't in class to replace Cole and play one of the hunters
We struggled with the time that we had to film in. Having the lesson only being 1 hour we had to film all of the scene in 1 hour which is a struggle to do if we want our scene to look good
The sounds coming from us as actors and the surroundings aren't that of what the scene should sound like. For example there would be no cars driving around in the hunting forest but in our test shoot there were cars constantly driving past so we had to cut the audio out and the scene didn't sound right
anything that could have been done better
I think we could have added different kinds of shots to make the scene more interesting and gripping to the audience
I think that we could have changed the angle of the camera more to connote different demotions, statuses, etc
