The hunt

- it is a movie

- released in 2020

- it is rated as a 15

- it is an action horror thriller

- director is Craig Zobel

- the studio is Universal Pictures

The main character of the film is a woman called crystal, She is a woman who was picked by a crazy bunch of rich people who hate the poor and want to kill them. It also started when a chain of texts got leaked that they were planning on hunting a group of poor people for sport.

We find out to the end of the film that the leader of the hunt ,who had picked crystal and wanted to kill her, had captured the wrong crystal. This relates to my groups opening sequence as the hunters had picked the wrong girl to try and hunt. In our narrative the picking of the wrong person wasn't like in the movie with the evil woman getting two people mixed up. In our opening sequence instead of picking a girl it would be easy to hunt they accidentally picked a girl who was capable of taking down and killing the hunters.

Nearer to the end of the film and in in little bit throughout the film we see how crystal is a very capable woman and can survive on her own. She is also a good fighter as she can take down all the hunters by herself. In our opening scene we see how the main character (girl 2) is capable of surviving on her own and is a great fighter. She is able to take down someone twice her size who has a gun.

The narrative of the hunt is a group of rich people hunting poorer people for sport. In the narrative of our opening sequence it is about people/ a person being hunted by hunters for sport. In the whole narrative of our opening sequence we wrote that the rich/ posh hunters find poorer women and bring them to their manor house to hunt them.

both in the movie and in our opening sequence's whole narrative, the idea of a manor house is involved. In the hunt it was said that the poor people would get brought to a manor house and be hunted by the hunters at that said manor. In our opening sequence's whole narrative it is said that the hunters bring the girls to a manor then hunt them in the manor forrest.

In the narrative of the hunt by the end of the movie the woman (the main character) is the only "prey" left. In the narrative of our opening sequence the girl (the main character/ girl 2) is the only "prey" left.

The location of the hunt is started off in a forest and then moves off into other location like a train track, petrol/ gas station and a house. In our opening sequence the location of it is set in a forest. Both of the media products are based, at least at some point, in a forest.

The theme of both the film and our opening sequence is the weaker overpowering the stronger and showing their true potential. This is shown by the "prey" ,who are the weaker ones, ending up killing the hunters ,who are the stronger ones.

In both the film and in our opening sequence guns are used. The prop of a gun is used in both of these media products. The guns are used in both as they help to show the fact that the people are being hunted. The use of the guns being the types of guns used for hunting helps to add to the fact that they are being hunted for sport.

The lighting at the start on the movie ,when they are in the forest, is of daylight/ the type of lighting in a forest when it is day. In our opening sequence we want it to have the lighting of a forest in the day.

The costumes of the "prey" in the movie are civillian clothing whereas in our opening sequence we want to have the "prey" dressed in jumpsuits. This clothing choice we have made it to make it easier for the hunters to identify the "prey" as well as make them un-unique. They are nothing to the hunters, like objects.

I think this would be a good camera angle to use in our opening sequence when the hunters kill the first girl as it can show the emotions of both characters at the moment of one of them being killed.

I think the camera movement of the pan and slight track can be used in our opening sequence as in the movie it shows the sudden appearance of the character. We can use this in our opening sequence for girl 2 for when she appears to kill the hunter. It can be used to show the surprise attack on the hunter.

In our opening sequence we want it to be a flash forward in the movie. We would like the opening sequence to be based at the end of the film. An example of this would be in Reservoir Dogs. In the movie flashbacks are used to show backstory of how the hunt came about. In the scene where Crystal meets the evil lady a flash forward is used to show how she and the other "prey" where selected.

Squid game
- It is a tv show
- released in 2021
- it is rated as a 15
- it is a action drama mystery
- it is directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk
- the studio is Gulliver Studios

The main character of the TV show is a man called Seong Gi-hun who is a poor man put entered into a game to win a big amount of prize money. The game turns out to be a game to the death where the players have to win challenges or they are killed.

In the TV show the main character is poor man who is being killed for a game/ sport. The rich founders of the game are killing the poorer player like it is a silly little game. In our opening sequence the rich hunters are hunting the poorer "prey"/ girls for sport, like it is just hunting animals.

The main character throughout the TV starts showing his true potential. He starts by being a nobody and ends up winning the squid game. He shows his true potential as a winner. In our opening sequence the girl (girl 2) shows her real potential as a girl who can survive on her own as well as take down people twice her size who have guns. The girl ends up with her surviving the hunt like the man in the squid game ended up surviving the squid game.

The narrative of the squid game is that rich people have created a game to hunt down poor people to put them into a game so that they can observe them as they get killed by the hands of the rich people. In our opening sequence the narrative is that rich hunters have lured poor girls to their manor house where they are then brought to the manor forest and hunted and killer by the rich hunters.

In the narrative of the squid game by the end of the movie the man (the main character) is the only player left. In the narrative of our opening sequence the girl (the main character/ girl 2) is the only "prey" left. The idea of the main character being the only person of their kind is shown in both media products.

The location of both media products (the squid game and our opening sequence) are both isolated locations. In the squid game the squid game is located on a private island where no-one will know or hear what is happening. In our opening sequence the scene is located in an isolated forest which is owned by the hunters so no-one will see or hear what is happening.

The theme of both the Tv show and our opening sequence is the weaker overpowering the stronger and showing their true potential. This is shown by the "prey"/ players ,who are the weaker ones, ending up killing the hunters ,who are the stronger ones.

In squid game guns are used to show power of the different people in the squid game. The guns are used to control the players and kill them if they mess up/ lose a game. In our opening sequence guns will be used to shower the power the hunters have over the "prey"/ girls and when the girl (girl 2) ends up taking the gun it shows the shift in power in the narrative.

In Squid game the lighting is very bright. This can be implied that the lighting is used to oppose the situation that is going on. what is happening in the squid game is very dark and sinister whereas the bright lighting connotes happiness ands peace. This is because the colour white can connote peace, purity and happiness. In our opening sequence the lighting that we will have will be daylight but slightly dimmer and darker. This adheres to the ideas/ events that are happening in our sequence. The dark and dim lighting matches the dark events that are happening (hunters killing girls for sport).

The costumes in Squid Game are green jumpsuits will numbers written on them. This is the same kind of costume that we are using in our opening sequence. In our opening sequence will will have the girls wearing orange jumpsuits that will have spray-painted numbers on them. The number is used to take away the uniqueness from the player and the girls in both media products. The taking away of their uniquenesses suggest how the creators of the game/ hunt do not care about the players/ girls. The jumpsuits used in both media products can be used to separate the player/ girls from the hunters/ creators of the game.

I think the low angle used in Squid game is a good camera angle and an angle that we could use in our opening sequence. The lower angle helps to connote the power of the person. if we use the low angle when the girl is killing the hunter it can connote the power she now has and how the power has shifted. This is if we use a lower angle when the hunters are killing the first girl.

the camera movement of the camera tracking back a little bit then raising up and tilting to show an establishing shot will be used in our opening sequence to establish the location in which the our opening sequence is set.

In Squid game it is a linear narrative with the occasional flash back. In our opening sequence it will be a flash forward (the opening sequence will be to the end of the narrative of the film). The flash forward will be in linear narrative like Squid Game.

Ready or not
- it is a movie
- released in 2019
- it is rated as an 18
- it is a action comedy horror
- directors are Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillet
- the studio is 20th century fox

The main character of the film is called Grace. She is the bride of a man in a rich family. This rich family every time someone gets married play a game with the new member of the family. These games are children's games. if they lose the game they are not accepted into the family. The game that Grace picks out is hide and seek. It turns out instead of normal hide and seek it is the family trying to find and kill grace and if she survives the night she is welcomed into the family.

At the start of the movie Grace can be seen as weak as she is new to the family and a little bit timid. She doesn't have the confidence that the rest of the family have as she hasn't been with the family as long as everyone else. By the end of the movie when she has killed the whole family she is powerful and has power over the family (even though they are all dead). in our opening sequence the girls starts by being weak (the "prey") and ends with having power over the hunter (killing him).

The narrative of ready or not is of a poorer girl going to a rich persons family manor and ending up being hunted by the rich inhabitants of the manor. In our opening sequence girls are being invited to a rich family's manor then ending up getting hunted by the rich hunters in a forest.

In both ready or not and our opening sequence a kind of game is involved. In ready or not the family and Grace are playing hide and seek. This hide and seek game is very dark and ruthless. In our opening sequence the "game" of hunting is being explored. Instead of the hunters hunting animals they are hunting the girls. Both games are much darker versions of that said game.

The location that ready or not is set in is a rich families' manor house where the main character is being hunted by a rich family for a game. In our opening sequence the location that it is let in is in the forest of a rich families' manor house where she is being hunted for sport.

the theme of both the movie and our opening sequence is of a sick game being played. In ready or not a very dark version of hide and seek is player with one hider and the rest being seekers. When the hider is found they will be killed. In our opening sequence a very dark version of hunting game is done. Instead of hunting animals the hunters are hunting humans and collecting the most dog tags to win a prize.

the theme of the main character showing their true potential is shown in both the movie and our opening sequence. In the movie grace shows her true potential which is being able to kill all the family when all of them were after her. In our opening sequence the main character (girl 2) shows her true potential which is being able to kill someone double the size of her and holding a gun (hunter 1)

In both the film and in our opening sequence guns are used. The prop of a gun is used in both of these media products. The guns are used in both as they help to show the fact that the people are being hunted. The use of the guns being the types of guns used for hunting, when use in our opening sequence, helps to add to the fact that they are being hunted for sport. The ruthless types of weapons used to try and kill grace in the movie shows how ruthless the hunters are.

the costumes of the main characters in both media products a very different. In the movie the main character is wearing a wedding dress. wedding dresses individualise people. On a females wedding day they are basically the centre of attention. putting Grace in a wedding makes her an individual. whereas in our opening sequence the girls having their costume be jumpsuits takes away their individuality.

the lighting in both media products are opposites. In our opening sequence it is light/ day and in the movie it is drak/ night. The light in our opening sequence opposes what is going on in the scene. In the scene there is is lots of dark tones. The light which connotes peace, purity and being good used in the sequence is a good use to oppose for the scene. In the movie the dark lighting is used to adhear to the dark tones that are happening in the movie.

I think this is a good camera angle used as it shows the emotion of the victim as he is being killed but also shows Grace's hands (how he is being killed). I think this will be a good camera to use in our opening sequence so that we can show girl 2's face as she is being killed but also show the hunter's hands and arms when killing her.

the use of the camera movement of the pan combined with the cut as the crossbow bolt flies across the scene is used effectively. The cut allows for practical effects to be added. The cut but then keeping the pan height and speed the same made the cute between shots smooth and look like there was no cut. We could use this trick in our opening sequence when any changes from real prop to fake props are being used.

battle royale

- it is a movie

- released in 2000

- it is rated as an 18

- it is an action adventure drama

- director is Kinji Fukasaku

- the studio is Battle Royale Production Committee

The main character/ characters of the film are called Shuya and his friend Noriko as well as a transfer student called Shogo. They have been taken to an abandoned island where they are fitted with metal collars and are forced to kill each other until there is only one person standing. This is a government game that is held every year and is super ruthless. The collars can be remotely triggered and causes it to explode and kill the wearer of the collar

In the movie both of the main characters as well as the transfer student are all students. Being a student you don't normally have a job and if you do you aren't earning much money. The government are rich and have lots of money. Keeping that in mind the government are watching as the students are being hunted. It is like the rich are hunting the poor as the government have started the hunt and made the students finish it. In our opening sequence the poor girl/ girls are being hunted by the rich hunters. In both the movie and our opening sequence the poor are being hunted by the rich

in the movie we see how the students especially the main characters are able to take care of themselves and survive in the wild. we see how Shuga takes acre of Noriko's wound when she gets hurt. It shows how he is capable and able to survive without the need for medical attention. In our opening sequence the girl shows she is capable of surviving on her own when she kills the hunter (hunter 1) when he is twice the size of her and has a gun. In both the movie and our opening sequence the main characters show their capability

The narrative of both the movie and our opening sequence are the rich hunting the poor. In the movie the rich government have put the poorer students on a abandoned island and made them hunt each other as they watch like it is a game. in our opening sequence the rich hunters are hunting the poorer girls like it is a casual hunt but instead of the animals being hunted it is humans.

The narrative of both the opening sequence and the movie are the poorer/ weaker being exploited by the richer/ stronger. IN the movie the rich strong government has put the poor weak students on a isolated island and made them fight to the death all for the entertainment to the government. In our opening sequence the rich stronger hunters are bringing girls to the manor house to hunt them (the poor weak girls) in the forest.

The location of both the movie and our opening sequence is an isolated/ remote place. In the movie the location is an isolated island where no-one apart from the government will know and hear what is happening on the island. In our opening sequence the location is an isolated manor forest where if the girls scream no-one will hear them. No-one will know what the hunters are doing to the girls.

The theme of both our opening sequence as well as the movie is the main character proving their true potential. In our opening sequence the girl shows her true potential when she ends up killing the hunter (hunter 1)  when he is twice the size of her and is carrying a shotgun. In the movie the main characters show their true potential when they end up surviving till the end of the game and then escape back to the main land.

in both our opening sequence and the movie the props of guns are used to show the power that the characters ,who hold them, have. In our opening sequence the hunters have the power over the girls but when the girl (girl 2) has the gun it shows the shift of power from the hunters to now the girl having the power over the girl. In the movie the government all have guns and overall are the most powerful people in the movie. The students who have guns who end up killing lots of people have the most power as they can easily kill everyone.

The costume in both our opening sequence and the movie can connote the higher powers being ruthless and treat the weaker like objects/ dehumanising them. In our opening sequence the girls are all dressed in orange jumpsuits. This costumes can connote they are like prisoners in the fact that they are trapped and can't escape. This also takes aways the girls' individuality and dehumanises them. The hunters are hunting the girls like animals so are treating the girls like them and the costumes emphasise this point. in the movie the costume of the shoot uniform is used. School uniform makes everyone look identical and takes away peoples' individuality. Using this costume can show how the government don't care about anyone of the students and just wants them to hunt each other for entertainment.

I like the camera movement and shot used. The shot and movement is the camera zooming to a close up shot of the collar. This makes the audience focus on the collar and shows how it is important to the narrative and gives it lots of significance. In our opening sequence we can use this shot on one of the weapons or something significant that we want the audience to focus on.

The editing technique to cutting to different shots of the action that is happening helps for the audience to see what is happening and focuses our attention to things that the movie maker wants us to focus on. We will use this editing technique in our opening sequence when we edit it is make the sequence look better as well as get the audience to focus on things we want them to focus on.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
what the movies and TV show have in common:
  • all of the media products go over/ follow the theme of the rich hunting/ killing the poor
  • all of the media products involve a "game"
  • all of the locations of the media products are isolated locations
  • in all of the media products the main characters show their true potentials
  • in all the media products the main character switches from the weak to the most powerful character
  • all of the media products have guns in them
what impact do the conventions have on the film / what do the conventions add to the genre
  1. the use of the theme of it being a sick/ twisted game makes the narrative seem that more interesting and engaging to the audience ( especially the target audience)
  2. the fast pace shots help keep the attention of the audience and make it more thrilling and a heart racing atmosphere
why do the conventions appeal to your target audience
  • our target audience who we have picked as being 15+ year old males and females like the conventions are it very appealing to both genders and liked by lots of ages
  • the swear words used in some of the media products make it not suitable for ages under 15 years old
  • the dark narrative is appealing to older teenagers as following a dark narrative can be very easy as dark narratives are very gripping
what elements are different
  1. in the hunt and battle royale the "prey"/ students are given weapons whereas in our opening sequence the main characters have to deal with no weapons or end up making/ getting weapons
  2. In our opening sequence and the hunt they are shot in the forest. however, in the rest they are shot in other isolated locations
  3. in the hunt, battle royale and ready or not the characters have their own clothing but in the other media products the main characters are given costumes
  4. in ready or not, our media products and the hunt the main characters are females where as in the other media products the main characters are either multiple characters who aren't all the same gender or male
how do the other media products inspire our opening sequence
  • the editing techniques that i have picked out on this post we can use when editing our opening sequence
  • the camera angles and movements i have picked out on this post we can use when we film our opening sequence

Shooting a dialogue sequence and editing workshop no.2

The shooting and editing of the dialogue sequence was split into two lessons

In the first lesson we were split into a group of 4 people:

- me

- Isabella

- Annie

- Laura

we found a students who had no work to do and used them for one of the actors in our dialogue sequence

The actors in our sequence were:

- Laura

- Raff (the student that we found)

we recorded a short dialogue scene

Laura walks in and sits down in the chair opposite to Raff

Laura - Hi, my name is Laura

Raff - Hi, my name is Raff

Raff - how has your day been

Laura - it has been good, and you

Raff - it has been good

Raff gets up from his chair and walks away

We did this short scene multiple times using different angles

the shots we used were:

  • close up on Laura's face
  • close up on Raff's face
  • close up on Raff's shoes
  • close up on Raff's hands
  • close up on Laura's hands
  • over the shoulder (over Laura's shoulder)
  • over the shoulder (over Raff's shoulder)
  • wide/ mid shots along the 180 degrees

We set up the camera using the directions that we learnt in our first camera workshop (camera workshop no.1):
  1. take out the tripod first
  2. bubble the tripod
  3. attach the battery
  4. attach the microphone into the first slot (audio input 1)
  5. take the lens cap off
  6. open the screen
  7. press the power on button

when raising the tripod you start by loosening the clamps at the bottom and tightening them when you get to your desired height (if you need to raise it higher you then loosen the top clamps and tighten them when you get to your desired heigh)

We used the "yours" and "mine" rule when we giving and receiving the equipment (camera, battery and tripod)

We changed the white balance to make sure it was alright for the type of lighting we where shooting in
We altered the exposure of the camera depending on the amount of light was directed towards the lens of the camera (depending on where you were along the 180 degrees more light (sun light) would be directed towards thee lens so the exposure would have to be changed)

We thought about the 180 degree rule when shooting our dialogue sequence so that the sequence wouldn't be confusing to the audience

before we started filming each type of shot we would zoom in all the way then focus the camera then zoom back out to our desired zoom "strength". Doing this made it so that the shot were in focus and looked good/ professional.

we used the calls when we were filming our sequence
- stand by
- standing by
- roll camera
- camera rolling
- action
- cut

using these calls we found out that our original battery was low on charge and so we had to change it

when we were finished filming our sequence we striked (packed up) the kit (camera, microphone and tripod)

some of the problems we ran into were:
- things to do with the microphone
- things to do with the white balance
- things to do with how we framed our shots

the problem that we had with microphone is that it was a directional microphone. When recording the sound of the sequence i was accidentally pointing the head of the microphone (where it is the most sensitive) towards the ceiling. This meant that we were not recording the best quality of sound that was possible. To combat this we had to record the scenes again with the microphone pointed towards the action/ speaking instead. what we could have done differently was to make sure we were pointing the camera in the right direction in the first place which would have allowed us to have more time to film more angles/ shots

the problem that we had with the white balance was that originally we had the right white balance for the shots but we ended up changing the white balance to a warmer tone which made everything look orange and it didn't look right when we started editing. what we could have done differently is know the right white balance for the type of lighting where we are shooting a scene.

the problem that we had with how we framed out shots was with the over the shoulder shots and some other shots. The problem with the over the shoulder shots was that we should have moved them more into the shoulder as we left too much room to the size which ended up including things in the background which we didn't want to see (e.g. our teacher working at his desk). what we could have done differently is moved the camera closer towards there head taking away some of the space to the side. The problem with the close up shots on the actors' faces were that we shot them at a side profile. Side profile and straight on profiles aren't good. Instead you should shoot at a 3/4 angle which looks the best when shot. What we could have done differently what that we should have shot the close up of 3/4 angles of the actors' faces. The problem with some of the other shots was that we left too much head space. Too much head space can look back on a sequence and can end up distracting the audience. What we could have done differently was that we could have shot the sequence with the shots having less head space to make the shots look nicer

what i should do in preparation for the shooting day:
- i will make a sheet/ note with the things that we have to remember when filming:
  • pick the right white balance
  • the calls for filming
  • pick the right exposure
  • remember to bubble the camera
  • remember the 180 degree rule
  • remember to direct the end of the microphone at the action
- i will look over my camera workshop blog posts so that i am refreshed with how to use the cameras
- maybe practice the use of the practical effects

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On Monday 28th March we edited the dialogue sequence that we shot

we started by rewatching the shot that we filmed so that we would be refreshed with what we filmed and the types of shots that we had

It had been over a month since we filmed our dialogue sequence and so we needed the refreshing of our memorise so that we could use the shots we wanted to use and didn't miss any shots that we wanted to put into our edited sequence

we got the footage from the rushes and pressed "I" to start the bit of the footage we wanted to add and pressed "O" when we wanted to end the bit of the footage we wanted to add in. We repeated this process with the different shots until we were had made the first edit of our dialogue sequence

we edited the video of the dialogue sequence then our technicion taught us how to deal with/ edit the sound on our dialogue sequences

as we only used one of the audio inputs we had to first delete the second audio input which was just a blanc audio input clip. To get rid of it we had to un-sync the sound from the video, to do this we right-clicked on the video bar and pressed un-sync and then we able to click on the second audio bar and press the back space to delete it. after we had deleted the second audio we then put all the audios on the same line. when we did this the sounds changed between shots would sound weird so we had to mix the sounds to getter so the sound would flow from one clip to another. to do this we pressed on effects, then crossfade, then pressed constant power. Pressing this we then moved it over to the audio row. between two clips we added the constant power and shortened it to the length needed. When we added this is smoothed out the audio so it flowed from one audio in a shot to the audio in another shot

when we finished adding the constant power the sequence was fully edited

doing the editing i remembered and was refreshed on some of the things/ techniques that we learnt in our first editing workshop (editing workshop no.1):
  1. "command S" = save
  2. "X" = cutting tool
  3. "V" = getting back to the arrow
  4. "+" = zooming in
  5. "-" = zooming out
  6. "command Z" = undo
  7. don't overlap footage and sound
when we started editing and when we were looking though the rushes of our dialogue sequence we found out some mistakes that we made:
  • With the shot of Raff's feet walking away, that we didn't end up using' we ended up cutting too late which ended up with Isabella ending up being in the shot. This meant that we couldn't use all of this shot, especially the ending
  • Another mistake we mate when we were looking back at the rushes was that when we filmed some of our shots we left too much head space which ended up making the scene not look as good as it potentially could have looked. The extra head space can end up being distracting when looking back at the shots/ when the audience watch the dialogue sequence.
  • The third mistake we made when we watched back the rushes was that we had the wrong white balance. The change in the white balance that we made made everything look yellow. This made the shots look to warm and make them not look that nice.
to make sure we don't do these mistakes again i will add onto my note i will make to remember to not add too much head space, remember the right balance and don't cut to late/ have crew in shot

When we filmed we remembered the 180 degree rule and made sure we didn't break it as it can confuse the audience when it is broken as the actors look like they are in the wrong place

looking back at the footage what i would have done differently was:
  1. add more kinds of shots - allows for more kinds of shots to be added into the sequence to make it look better
  2.  made sure we filmed with less head space - make the shots look better
  3. change the white balance to be the right one for the lighting we had - make the shots look better
what I will do different when i/ we are editing our actual opening sequence is:
  • I will take more time to focus on the shots i want to include and not include into the edited version of our opening sequence. The types of shots used in the opening sequence can effect the mood of the sequence, the connotations of the characters and the emotions you get from watching the film. They can also change the genre of the sequence (different types of shots are used for different genres)
  • I will make sure the sound is fully/ to the best possible smoothed between different shots. If the sounds aren't fully smoothed it can made the sound sound bad/ not as good as it could be
  • cut and end at the right place in the shots that that we include the bits of the footage we want and don't include the bits of the footage we don't want. The wrong bits of footage can change the meaning and feel of the scene massively
  • not waste time. If you waste time you will have less time to edit the sequence and possible time to make the sequence look and feel even better
overall i think the making and editing of the dialogue sequence went quite well even though we did have things that we did wrong and need to work on. When we film and edit our opening sequence my group and I can use this task as a tool to help us see what we did wrong the first time and not make those mistakes again. This task has allowed me to find out and plan a note/ sheet that we (my group and I) can use on the shooting day and editing time so that we don't make the kind of mistake that we made when filming and editing this dialogue sequence. when approaching our opening sequence we will have this task to reflect on and see what we should and shouldn't do. This can help maximise the time we have and use it effectively.

this is the edited dialogue sequence we made
the sequence should have Laura walking in and sitting down as well as Raff getting up and leaving. We didn't edit those parts in as we prioritised the speaking part of the sequence and we were under time pressure so we didn't end up getting the chance to add those bits in. From this I know i need to not waste time so that i can have more time to edit. If this was the opening sequence i could have missed our parts of the sequence that could have been vital to the storyline.

also, i didn't properly smooth the sound out right. It has caused Raff to sometimes have an echo to his voice.

Shooting schedule

This is a shooting schedule we made to help use on the shooting day and help us when filming our opening sequence

We will be able to follow this shooting schedule on the day so that we are doing everything on time so that we have the right time needed to film for our opening sequence

We can also use this so that we don't forget anything when we are on the day and stressed about getting the right shots and not wasting time so we can film all the shots we need

my role

The roles for the production are as follows

director = Bea

camera operator = Cole

editor = me (Will)

Director of photography (DOP) = Daisy

My role in the production will be editor

all of the group will do a bit of everything but we all have are roles that we focus on

I will be focusing on editing

I chose editing as when we were doing the editing workshop i really enjoyed how editing worked and editing a small piece we made

I didn't choose camera operator as i feel that i am more comfortable with editing even though i still really enjoy using the cameras

An editor is a person who is in charge of and finalises the film using software to combine shots together and create the movie from the different videos shot from the cameras

I will use the knowledge that i have have gained from the workshop i did on editing to help me edit my groups final filmed opening sequence

before i start editing I will look over my notes on the editing workshop to try get myself up to date and remember some things that i might have forgotten

I will use the storyboard that me and my group have created to help me will putting the right shots in the right places to create the feel that we want

I will be working with adobe premier pro

My role is important as editing is the final thing to be don e to our opening scene before it is published and officially finished

If i mess the editing up even if the shooting went well the opening sequence won't look good

editing can turn an average opening sequence to an extremely good opening sequence

things i can foresee if the amount of time the editing will take and how precise i will need to be with the order and time frame of the shots

costumes - searching for the hunters costumes pt 3

On the weekend i went to Guildford to look in charity shops as well as other shops to look for the remaining costume pieces i needed

I went there looking for

- shirts for hunter 1 x 2/3

- trousers for hunter 1

- wellies for hunter 1 and 2

- possible hats x 2

- possible ties x 2

hunter 1 has size 10 feet

hunter 2 has size 10-11 feet

I got the shirts, a pair of trousers, a tie and one pair of wellies. I had to ask the group if they had any spare wellies and luckily Daisy did so we got a pair of wellies from Daisy
