Foley sounds are sounds that are custom made in post-production
They are used for all types of media
It was invented in the 1920s
It is made by recording different sounds that can be put together to make the sound you want
They are made so a sound can be created that is very hard/ impossible to record (dinosaur roaring)
They are made to make the exact sound effect you want that isn't already in the sound library

\making my own for a clip
for the dinosaur growl i used my dog Lille
- i used her growls for the dinosaur growls
- i slowed the sound down to make it sound different to a dog's growl
for the gun i used a nerf gun
- I reloaded the nerf gun to get the sound for the reloading of the gun in the clip
for the dinosaur footsteps i used a lid to a diffuser on a wooden table which was padded with t-shirts
- i slowed the sound down to make the sound sound like it comes from a heavy animal
- i used the lid to sound like the feet of the dinosaur hitting the floor
for the dino breathing on the glass i used a deodorant spray can
- i make the spray long so it would match the length of the breath
- the deodorant spray sound was used to make the sound of a dinosaur breathing
for the dinosaur squeak i used a squeegee on a dry bit of glass
- i slowed the sound down to make it longer to how long the dinosaur squeaks for
for the dinosaur's moan it makes i used the ending to one of my other sounds
- i used the ending of the dinosaur squeaking sound to make the moan of the dinosaur
