research no.2 - wound care

Before we started shooting out opening me and my group researched different aspects and ideas to help us when we start filming

I wanted to research into wound care techniques so that we could add bandages to the main character to suggest she has been in a lot of combat and it isn't like the hunt just started. The bandage technique can suggest she has lots of knowledge and isn't the type of person the hunters wanted to try hunt

How to apply a bandage on yourself

hand
  1. clean the would
  2. face your palm up and wrap the bandage around your wrist 2 times
  3. turn hand over and pull bandage diagonally over the top of the hand
  4. wrap the bandage around your fingers (not your thumb)
  5. pull the bandage diagonally across your hand and do a figure 8 a few times
  6. secure the bandage to itself (tape, pins, tying, ect)
Bandaging the arm

types of wound healing
  • primary wound healing
  • secondary wound healing
  • tertiary wound healing
primary wound healing - when the wound is closed using staples, glue or any other type of ways to close a wound

secondary wound healing  - when there is too much tissue loss so the wound is left to heal on its own

tertiary wound healing  - the closing of the wound by primary wound healing is delayed to stop infections and bacteria from being trapped inside the wound

cloth can be used as a bandage but you must put a dressing on the wound then you cover it with the cloth

to stop bleeding you should but direct pressure on the wound and hold the pressure until you can wrap it up with bandages or get medical attention
