Target audience
how can it be helpful:
- ultimately to make money
- what conventions need to be followed (as audience expect them)
- in making choices - narrative, in part mise-en-scene, character, casting
- marketing
who is your target audience ?
- gender and age - limit (there is a big difference between 15,16,17&18
use similar movies to your movie to find its target audience which are likely to be your target audience
similar movies to our opening sequence
- the numbers next to the titles are the age ratings of the movies/ tv shows
- the large numbers of the pictures are what people rated the movie/ tv show out of 10
- the small blue numbers are the number of people in that age range and gender that filled in a rating
- the ages and genders are to differenciate the ratings and votes to see what kind of people have watched the movies/ tv show
the hunt - 15
squid game - 15
ready or not - 18
battle royale - 18
what makes a film the way it is rated:
suitable for children 4+ years old
no swearing, sex or scary scenes
violence is allowed but violence must not be in detail
PG
suitable for children 8+ years old
up to the parents if they will allow their child to watch the film
there can be some bad language, sex and scary scenes
12A
suitable for children 12+ years old
children under the age are allowed in with parental accompaniment
there can be bad language, violence and sex, these must not be glorified
12
suitable for children 12+ years old
the audience must be 12+ even with parental accompaniment
there can be bad language, violence and sex, these must not be glorified
15
suitable for children 15+ years old
things can't be shown in graphic detail
18
suitable for people 18+ years
it can show graphic scenes of sex, violence and have lots of very bad language in it, if it is too explicit it will become an 18R
i think as our opening sequence is most like the hunt and has similar/ less gore than it. the gore and language wont be graphic. Due to this we think that the age rating of our opening sequence will be a 15
